View Full Version : Suspension...
polo708 05-03-2004, 07:22 AM Im just trying to get this part of the forum rolling, so work with me ppl</P>
What kinda suspensiondo u guys like? Im running Tein because they are the best. (also the highest selling suspension company in Japan)I know alot of people go with Eibach or Skunk2.</P>
HeyRoentgen, are u running Tein? (I noticed your signature)</P>
green98lxsedan 05-03-2004, 02:48 PM well eventually i will prob run eibach/bilsteins.
changed my mind on that my suspension is not in a nother thread tokico and racer edge coilover combo
Roentgen 05-03-2004, 04:06 PM I would like to get Tein's SS, but not sure yet. The shop I go to for car mods doesn't carry them. However, they do carry Ground Control coilovers and Koni shocks which are equally as good. </P>
Currently, my car isn't lowered but like to do it in the near future.</P>
slim11420 05-03-2004, 06:08 PM i run ground control coilovers with tokiko 5 way adjustable gas struts. dc strut tower bars. love the set up

ZzZzz EH2 05-05-2004, 04:47 AM Tokico blues and H&R springs on the hatcy. Ride is nice
Ground Control Adjustables. I need to get some good shocks and a front camber kit tho.
polo708 05-06-2004, 07:11 AM For ppl wondering... coilovers will give u more flexibility and a stiffer ride for cornering but the ride is harsh</P>
Drop springs will help out alot with a bit nicer ride.</P>
6thgencupe 05-06-2004, 02:20 PM I would go with Tein all day long. Been using their products for a long time here at the shop, and I will continue to. I love them.
slim11420 05-06-2004, 02:25 PM i agree with ya polo...my thought on that though....if you want a cadillac ride then buy a cadillac...if you want a car that handles...you must sacrifice!
polo708 05-07-2004, 10:32 AM well, put slim</P>
also, a good website is www.japdirect.com (http://www.japdirect.com) for suspension needs! Tell them Polo sent you (j/k they dont know me but that would have been funny! "who the f**k is that???")</P><edited><editID>polo708</editID><editDate>38114.4395833333</editDate></edited>
Roentgen 05-07-2004, 11:33 AM Even tho I love the Tein SS setup, I rather have my ride be smooth than stiff. It will be for daily driving only, so what is the best setup in my case using drop springs. I love the idea of being able to adjust the ride, but not sure what to do now??</P><edited><editID>Roentgen</editID><editDate>38114.4820717593</editDate></edited>
polo708 05-07-2004, 12:58 PM with the adjustable struts/coilovers you can throw all comfort out the window. If you want something smoother try the Tein H-tech.... Its less of a drop and everyone I know who has them are pretty satisfied with the ride comfort.
Roentgen 05-07-2004, 10:32 PM I'll take a look at the Tein's. What else would I need to go with the drop springs besides new shocks? I suppose going with the springs instead of the struts/coilover setup will be cheaper. Btw, how much of a drop will the Tein's give me? Anything around 1.5-2" F/R will be enuf for me.</P>
Edit: Well, I have decided to go with the S-Tech springs (if I go with Tein) since they give me a drop of 1.9 (F) and 1.7 (R). Ppl on other forums seem to love them as well. I will prbly go with Koni shocks to replace the OEM.</P><edited><editID>Roentgen</editID><editDate>38114.9599884259</editDate></edited>
polo708 05-08-2004, 08:09 PM you will eventually need new shocks, but your stock ones will be fine for a while... If u dont have the loot to get both right now. Remember to get an alignment when your done
green98lxsedan 05-08-2004, 09:01 PM the alignment is a must. after iinstalled the roush susp. kit on the stang i dont think the outter 3 inches of the wheels were on the ground. it was soo far off i needed ccplates. but i got lucky and put them on with the susp anyway. saved a lot of time and $$$$
Roentgen 05-08-2004, 10:28 PM I've read that stock shocks will wear out within 3-5 months after putting on drop springs (this is on average). Since I will only be using the car as a daily driver, should I not get adjustable shocks (Koni or Tokico) and just get the cheaper ones?
lilol89crx 05-09-2004, 11:37 AM sprint springs, stock struts on the dx. skunk 2 coil overs on illuminas for the hf.</P>
hondachick21 05-14-2004, 01:51 AM I have adjustable skunk2 coilovers and I like them.<IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0">

ive heard good things about those</P>
Struletz 05-18-2004, 07:30 PM I have been looking into different suspensions, i get told either lowering springs are better then other say coil over, personally im not sure so if anyone can help me out, that and the research i have done put tein and skunk2 on the top (for coils) and for lowering i heard that comptech was pretty nice? anyone else have any ideas?
01BluCiv 05-23-2004, 09:55 PM agh dude!... i got a 01 civic coupe currently running Koni adjustable struts with ground controls coilovers. and i want to get something BETTER!.. its sucks.. the disign of the rear strut is terrible.. within the past 2 months i have dropped the rear suspernsion 3 times. see.. there is a groove for a C clip that holds up the coilover, and the spring. so all the weight of the car is resting on a about a 3 mm wide ride thats probaly only 1mm thick. well.. Koni has to do somethign about it cuz i've busted 3 C rings so far. its a poor design. i'm looking for a new suspension and i think i'm gonna dish out the money for a set of Teins.
hoody1982 05-24-2004, 01:59 AM I am running the same set up Blu, and have had no problems, are you running over potholes at 90? I will suggest this set up to anyone, I love it.
polo708 05-24-2004, 01:18 PM Tein is the way to go! Thats what I got and love.
Blackwidow 06-03-2004, 07:54 AM How low are most of you dropping your rides? I was thinking about 2 or so, but the only thing is im wondering if im going to have problems with speed bumps, etc. Just wondering to i dont make it to low.
I think 2 inches is cool. Anything more and you will have issues with speed bumps.
polo708 06-04-2004, 01:16 AM mine is dropped 2.5" and I havent had any problems... yet.
My front bumper lives on the pavement! In and out of driveways are the worst!
polo708 06-04-2004, 03:03 AM NTX... what suspension are u running? U probably told me, but I forgot.
Ground Control adjustables. People keep telling me to raise the car.....but i like it low...:(
