what year did the civic hx model come out?

i have a 2000 ex oupe now with 64,000 miles on it and i hate to drive it through another winter full of snow and salt to damage the car like winters do up here in New York.

I am thinking of getting an older civic for the winter and since gas prices are way up there, i am thinking about an older hx model depending on what year they came out.

I am looking to spend about $2000, what kind and year civic can i expect to get with this money?

You could prolly find a 96 for 2k, maybe a 98 but I doubt it.
