Default What do I need to lower my Civic?

Hi, I want to lower my civic but I don't know what parts I need and what companies are known for good suspension products. I called this store in my region and they said a neuspeed lowering kit cost $299 canadian while neuspeed race lowering kit cost $125 us on ebay. What other parts do I need? Everything I have now is stock and I might be adding 17" in about a year or two. Thanks for any help you can give me, Dave

it depends on many things, money u want to spend, ride height and quality ect..first you have to decide between lowering springs and coilovers, then you can worry about brands...ive heard good things about ground controll, i have drop zone coilovers and would recomend them, sk2 is good, im sure more ppl can recomend more co.

Well I live in canada so it gets pretty damn cold and I heard that coilovers freeze up in cold weather or something like that. So I want lowering springs but I'm sure theres more to that to lower my car. I don't have much money but I'm saving every bit I can. I'm basicly looking to lower my civic by at least 1.5" and have tight handling. Dave

oh ok then lowering springs are good for your application...the only really necisary thing is the springs...but the next step is shocks. once again many brands to choose from not to firliair with all of them tho...i have KYB GR-2 gas shocks on mine and there good so far...for 1.5 drop i dont think you will need a camber kit..
is that the type of stuff you were looking for?

well ebay is a good place to find that stuff but just be careful and remember you get what you pay for...i dont think you will need a camber kit for 2 inches but after like 2.5 is when you really need them...well my shocks were 175 from my local tuner shop...they can run anywhere from there to almost 400. like i siad you get what you pay for. let some other ppl recomend brands because im not that familiar with most of them...also i would recomend surfing the bay (ebay) and then you can get some info on what you find...just be carefull becasue there are some rip off kits out there with shocks and springs together...hope that helps anythign else just holler

i love tokico shocks, but thats my own experience. the camber kit fixs the alignment problem you get when you lower a car. camber isnt adjustable on a civic, so the kit makes it adjustable, though you still have to get it aligned at a tire shop.

Do I need a camber kit for the front and rear of the car? If I don't have a camber kit, the wheels will disaligne faster or something or will always be disaligned? Thanks for the help guys Dave

they will be disaligned as soon as you lower it, this will wear out your tires fast. and you really should get both front and rear, though the rears dont wear as fast as the fronts due to the occasional spinning of the front tires.
