'08 Civic Auxiliary Jack
I've had my new 2008 civic EX for about 2 weeks now. I've got Sirius SatRadhooked up through the factory auxiliary jack. The auxiliary jack is located right below the power adapter outlet. I've got engine noise hum and it is driving me crazy!! I am pretty sure that it is engine noise hum because the hum coincides with the RPMs as I am shifting. I really don't think that it is a ground loop issue. I had a similar setup in a Toyota Tacoma (automatic)that had a hum and a ground loop filter solved the problem.
I hooked up a ground loop filter to see if that would take care of the problem just to make sure, but it really didn't do much. My setup is - shielded cable from satrad plugged into filter. Filter plugged into AUX jack. The hum is thereevery which way you set it up.
Is this a Honda design flaw? Does anybody have a similar issue that has fixed it? Possible solutions? I appreciate any and all suggestions.
Thanks.

Plug a set of headphones into the satrad and make sure it is putting out a clean signal. Are you using an external antenna with it? If the antenna is touching the car and grounding there that's another potential ground loop.
You should of course turn the satrad up all the way (or as much as you can without distortion) and control the volume with the head unit.
Maybe your ground loop filter isn't doing its job. Also you could try running the satrad off of batteries (such as one of those jump start packs that has a lighter output). That will definitely break any ground loop from the power plug.
