yea no doubt that DD is the $hit in mobile audio
my buddy I mentioned earlier in this thread with the single 15 in his eclipse is a DD 15 (same guy with the civic with 3 1508's). I installed both systems for him and tuned them. Took the eclipse (spyder!) to Carlisle Style and Performance show in Carlisle, PA and took 2nd place in the Street A class on a termlab mic. Even the judge was like that is damn impressive in a convertible.

Go with the 12s you get that punch in the chest bass as opposed to that move your clothes bass

if u just want loud.... 12s will do that.
Loud = Cone Area
3x12 - more cone than a single 18.
peak wattage means nothing.
18 will hit lower than the 12
whats ur price range on subs and amps

One ported DD9512 with 1,500 watts RMS going to it should easily outdo TWO 12s... Assuming the other guy isn't running two ported DD9512s with 3,000 watts RMS going to them!
