Default deck problem

i bought i new deck for my civic and had a friend put it on for me it worked of course. The only problem i have is that when i turn my car off the deck is still on. i asked him why does it do this and he said thats the only way he can get my deck working was putting the yellow wire and power wire together which means that my decks power is always on unless i pull the face off. He doesnt know why it has to be connected that way though so if any one could tell what the problem is i would really appreciate it very very much thank you!

If you guys bought an adapter harness from Metra or similar, you should connect it yellow to yellow, red to red. Maybe when he tried this before he didn't have the key turned on when he tested and so it appeared as though it wouldn't work.

I know my answer is very simple, but you would be surprised how easy it is to overlook the little stuff. I hope this works out for you, report back either way so others can learn or help.

The fuse that is supposed to feed the red wire when the key is on may be blown. Constant power for the yellow wire comes from a different fuse.
