Default 4 volt constant on head unit?!?! wtf

I took out this old school sony to put in a slightly less old school pioneer. The sony worked fine in the civic but the pioneer doesn't. The pioneer worked fine when I took it out of my other car, just over two weeks ago. The constant (yellow wire) is at 3.5-4.5 volts, but the red wire is at a solid 12.6-14.3 volts. What is causing this? My ground seems fine. BTW, what do the power and ground wires plug into between the factory harness and the head unit? Its a 98 EX.
