Default 6:00am weight reduction on my old car

I was just woken up by a phone call from my mom. Someone broke into my sister's car and stole the sound system I put in there for her. It wasn't a great system, just my old stuff, but still. It just makes me angry. They broke out a window, apparently destroyed the center console, ripped out the old, beat up JVC head unit (which wasn't worth it, IMO. It was trash, so I replaced it with an Alpine awhile ago) , the Alpine Type-E 10 subwoofer and box, and the Jensen 600 watt amp. They even stole all of the wires for the copper.

So she's short about 100+ pounds worth of subwoofer, MDF enclosure, amplifier, center console, and driver's side window, plus a lot of other personal belongings. I actually had plans for that amp. It was on extended loan until I got more speakers in my car.

I mean, come on. It's winter. This happened at around 6:00am, and it was 28 degrees outside. And it's right before Christmas too.

This is what insurance is for, but that doesn't make it less of a pain to deal with. I recommend that you keep a list of serial numbers on EVERYTHING you own.

It was sitting in the driveway, right in front of the house, situated in our "low crime" neighborhood.

It just makes me so mad. That was my old Civic. I put a lot of work into that one before I got my current Civic.

At least they were somewhat ethical thieves and broke the least expensive piece of glass on the car?

Man, I spent a lot of time working on this console. Now, it's a total loss.

(The duct tape was there before. Not a damn clue why.)

The good: there was a witness who came forward. He saw them this morning and called the police. The thieves weren't familiar with the neighborhood, so when they saw the guy following them, they turned onto a side street that turned out to be a dead end, where they ditched the car and ran. The car was stolen too. Some "evidence" was recovered, but they won't let us know what the "evidence" was. So, if it was my stuff, we can't identify it yet.

Man that sucks...but hopefully the recovered property is all your stuff...and if so HOPEFULLY they didn't jack the stuff up when they took it out. I haven't had to price one, but until you get the quote unfortunately that may not be the least expensive window to replace (even though it is the smallest). Sometimes those little windows are teh worst.

Stuff like this makes me glad I moved out of the city and back into the country.

I think they broke out the small window because it makes the least amount of noise. Samething like that happened to my Camry, but they set off the alarm left the back door open. Took nothing though.
