Or try 3/4 inch mounting rings. They may lift up the sub enough to fit in the existing hole. I don't know. I hope you don't succeed though, for your sake. You're going to get those subs in there, and find that they only rattle the hell out of the plastic paneling above them
You may want to invest in some dynamat sound damping material if you're going to attempt this.
Good luck.

Whats the make and model of your 8" Speakers, as well as this DVC subwoofer we've been talking about?
SO wait a min, you're putting 2 8" speakers in your rear deck, and a 12" DVC sub in your trunk? Do you realize you're only gonna hear mid-bass and trebble from your front doors? Your sound stage is going to sound pretty bad. I STRONGLY recommend 6x9 speakers in your rear deck. 6x9 in the rear deck is one of the best things honda ever did, audio-wise. What year is your EX?
Also, are you in california? I wire up car audio systems all the time if you want to hire my services. I can make those mounting rings by hand for you as well. And a subwoofer box, or whatever else you need. This could be done in person or by mail, depending on where you live.

What's a 10" EV? Yes I was mistaken, your EG won't take 6x9. I have no idea what the mounting hole looks like on your rear side panels, so unless you can send me some pics or something, there isn't much I can tell you.
I'd also need to know exactly which JBL 8" you have so i can check the dimensions of the speaker (mounting depth/width) on their website.
Tweeters are ok, but what are you going to do about mid-bass?

well if your car is parked for awhile you could always pay a windshield guy to come over and remove your rear window..... do all your work and then pay him to come back and reinstal it....
makes it ALOT easier to do rear deck work....

run 8s in your rear deck..... there is no need for 6x9s ...... one of the sickest setups iv'e ever heard was a single 10 in the rear deck...... if you want a good soundstage do a set of compenets up front.... if you think about it where does the sound come from when you see a band... in front of you... iv'e built many SQ cars and the have never had rears...
two of my friends ...( mike darville... and steve rogers ) have both won open pro at world finals... trust me..

Civicduty96 is right, and your sound stage will be front-end. HOWEVER, seeing as your front speakers are less than a foot above the floor, your sound stage will be at your feet. Do you have ears on your feet?
If you're going to listen to civic duty, not only do you need to get really high quality components, you'll need to mount them at an upward angle such that they're pointing at your head. For this, you need to know how to mount custom (angled) enclosures in the front door panel (that's what I did) -OR- you could pick up some custom kick panels from Q-Logic or scosche - $200.
Not having rear mid-bass is retarded, but with 8" - which typically get up to 500-600 hz before F3 highend roloff - you might have some really fantastic mid-bass punch in your cabin (depends on the 8's you use and how you enclose them) And you mentioned tweeters in the rear, that'll be good.
I think the prospect of 8's in the deck could work out really well, but you better put some serious thought and money (or build your own) into your front doors.
As for seeing a live rock band - Acoustically speaking, you're comparing apples and oranges. If you want your mid-bass to punch you in the chest, surround yourself with it, front and back.
The more I think about it, I wanna put 8's AND 6.5's in my own rear deck, thanks for the idea
-Two 12's in the trunk, of course.
For the record, I tend to side with civicduty - A front-heavy soundstage is far better than a rear-heavy soundstage any day of the week.
