Amp help

My friend needs to know if this is too much, http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ss+DD2600.html
for two Boston Acoustics G510-44 10" 450 Watts Car Audio Subwoofer

I told him it would be okay since he had two 450 rms subs and he could wire it to make the amp put 900 rms. Am I wrong?

Well first off make sure you read the product description.......

0-gauge power and ground wiring is required for installation. Contact us for information regarding a discount on select amplifier kits when purchased together with this amplifier.
Second off your running two 4 ohm dual voice coil subs so you can only wire the subs to a mono block at a 1ohm load or a 4 ohm load. You really want to try to achieve a 2 ohm load since the amp your looking at purchasing is not 1 ohm stable (you will fry the amp running the subs at a 1 ohm load). So yes it will work as long as you wire the subs at a 4 ohm load and also with those subs and that amp dont expect to break any windshields or rattle your tires off.

315 customs is right, although i did confuse myself the first time i read his post. so here it is in different words to make sure you understand.

wire each sub's coils in series so that each sub is at 8 ohm. then wire the two subs in parallel so that the amp sees an overall load of 4 ohms.

or the alternate way would be wiring the coils in parallel so each sub is 2 ohm. then wire the subs in series so that again it comes out to 4 ohms.

either way its at 4 ohms and that amp will do 900w at 4 ohms, which works very well with those subs.

Im looking at his subs and they only have one set of negative and positive banana clips for wires. Dont dvc have two sets? Or at least according to crutchfield wiring diagrams

Sigracer10 Jun 4, 2009 08:26 PM

yes DVC subs usually have two sets of terminals, hence the name dual voice coil.

if he only had one set of terminal, then he probably has the G5104, which is the single voice coil version of the G51044.

If this is the case, then that amp will definitely over power these subs because the only usable ohm load to wire 2 of these subs is at 2 ohms. which that amp will run at 1350w. you should try to find an amp that will push 900 at 2 ohms instead of at 4 ohm.

Right cause that amp will actually do it's rated RMS  Don't get that amp, here's some that will do good
