k... your playing your disc changer over an FM transmitter... thats the problem RIGHT there... remove FM transmitter and sound should be crispily clearer once plugged in. until then enjoy static!

First if there is a radio station nearby on that frequency or the one next to it, you need to change the frequency on both the changer and the radio.

Is the unit properly plugged into the antenna jack of the old radio? They weren't intended to couple over the air, you need to plug the changer control box "RF Out" right into the radio, then plug the car's antenna into that box so that when the changer is off you can listen to the radio. This connection does not have the clarity that a line-level connection would have but there should not be static, it's more an issue of limited frequency response.

If your old radio is an aftermarket unit with an "aux" input you should use that instead.

There should be RCA plug outputs on the changer. Connect them to the aux on your head unit with a suitable cable.

k just checkin, but yeah, chances are the problem is with the fm transmitter, try changing the frequency it's being broadcast on, or pull out the head unit and inspect the connections, make sure they are good and solid.

but I still say you should try to bypass the fm transmitter, see if you can find a head unit that will accept that changer direct, or just find an adapter for it.
