Cd Player Relocation
I've been searching around for a little while and think that i'm searching in the wrong places. Anyways how do you relocate the cd player to the space near the cupholders? I have a 99 EX and was just wondering if someone had a link to how to do it? knows how to do it? or can tell me how hard it is to do.
ok well in my pic lets say the red is the plastic were the cut holders are,the black is wood and the gray is the metal in your car, what i did what just take out the cup holer part (its a totaly seperate piece) and make a piece of wood to sit behind it flush and fabric it, then just screw the wood to the metal and put back your center console and it will sit right on top of the wood. you cut out a space for your deck in the wood. It takes a bit of time and measuring..i have a pic in my gallery of it
On my 96 I just purchased a cupholder and empty cd holder unit that used to have the factory cd player in it, then it was simply bolting the deck into the holder and re-routing the wires down to the deck (simple process no exented wires needed).
personaly id rather just spend alittle money and get a nice aftermarket cd/mp3 player radio
then just take out your radio and have some extra space....
just an idea..... replacing the radio is realy simple! and with no cutting of the factory wires!
alls ya need is a aftermarket radio wiring harness and the new radio/cdp[layer
about a dozen wires which are all labeled and color coded so even the newest newbie could do it themself! and lets face it that factory radio is only so good.LOL

haha way ahead of you my first thing i did when i bought the car was install a new cd player that could connect to my i-pod. I just think that the radio would look alot better down by the cupholders and then i plan on buying a block off plate for where the radio was
o ok your talken about relocating the whole radio...
ok ya didnt say ya already had a aftermarket unit.... ok...
if the radio will fit in thier it should be realy easy...
if the radio will fit in thier without cuting it up just drill some holes thru the plastic and bolt it in from the sides and cut the rear out for the wires or maybe the radios backing to be deep enough in the pocket.
im not sure if the radio will fit in thier easily enough or not...
i can check tomorow... i still got the radio that came in my civic layen around. just to late tonight....
but what you gonna put up thier in its place? J/W

I was thinking i would put this their for now and later on maybe fabricating a way to put a screen in the spot ... or even the stock ek9 navigation system

but i haven't researched much on the nav system, so i don't know how good it is or fitment. but i do love the ek9 interior! Thanks for the responses!

Alright just scrap what everyone told you. Just get an aftermarket CD player put it up top and then get a sick amp setup and have the digital controller (Kicker SXRC) put in the tape deck spot like mine here.

It looks sick, when I park I just lift up the cup holder, nobody knows I have anything because they can’t see it. You can however do the same type of thing where you have a CD player down there, and instead of taking the face out just flip up the lid.
