i think its better to not to make them too difficult to remove, because it will cause more damage. the last one that was stolen, and the one i have now, are just slide out removal. they stole my last deck with no dash damage. they are gonna get them one way or another.

Ya i doubt it was a 99, but haven't been in a 99 2D.....my 97 civic 4D had the buttons on the bottom.....although the buttons are in different places it still might fit! I cant say for sure though. Anyone want to say i'm wrong? right?

the 96-98 consoles are different than the 99-00. but you can sway them with quite a bit of work to replace the whole blower box system and harness.
i swapped my 96 to a 99-00 style myself. only difference is my dash doesnt have the mounts for the 99-00 so mines all zip tied in firm instead of bolted in because the braces dont line up.

if yours has the manual cable driven slide heater/cool you have the 96-98, but if you have the electronic unit with the ***** its the 99-00.

and never make it easy for the thief!!!!!!! thats total crap! YOU MIGHT AS WELL LEAVE YOUR CAR UNLOCKED WITH THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION!!!!!!!! thats just stupid!
hell if the thief gets it really easily its gonna make him think MAN THAT WAS EASY IM GONNA DO THAT AGAIN! then he knows your car is very easy to steal your radio and he will do it again!
i bolt my stuff in there firmly if they cannt steal it sure they will smash it but lets face it WHY THE HELL SHOULD HE GET YOUR RADIO? hes gonna smash your stuff up anyways. id rather have a smashed up dash and radio rather than a smashed up dash and no radio and that bastard now gets to go pawn or trade my radio for drugs. hell no a loss is a loss. i got full coverage insurance so its not a big loose for me.

awww man they hacked your harness also... that sucks!!!! they should have just unpluged the dam thing.
your best bet is to also chop off the harness and conect it to your wires.
just check out your local junk yard to see if they have the wire harness and if you can cut off that harness with enough wires off the end so you match up all the wires properly.
OR at the least take a camera with you or a pad of paper and pin and write down all the color codes and the position on the harness plug, then you could buy a aftermarket dash kit and just connect the right wire to the right stock wire directly. but still best to just chop the harness off and wire it up directly to your harness.
if i had a better picture of the actual plug id send it to you buy sorry i dont. this picture was from me swaping over my audio console and heater controls.

its the large white/greyish plug.
