Disable daytime running lights
The new 2006 Civic EX has daytime running lights. I would like to dis-able this feature so that I can install higher watt aftermarket bulbs. So far dealer tells me can't be done by flashing ecu and he doesn't know if there is a simple cable I could un-plug. I know the Sub. Forrester you can unplug at firewall. Can anyone help? |
RE: Disable daytime running lights
They are like the original GM daytime lights.....reduced voltage....you can't shut em off. You won't have high beam..if thats OK with you its a red wire at the switch on the steering column.

RE: Disable daytime running lights
Thanks for the information. Wanted to install higher watt bulbs but lower wattage kills the life expendency of these type bulbs. Guess you could cut the red wire you described, and with a relay, provide +12vdc direct to high beams when highbeam switch is activated. Any thoughts on that? |
RE: Disable daytime running lights
I put standard watt super whites from Vision in the high beams (daytime running lights) ....and did HID form vision in the Lows....frekin awsome....
