Amp over heating?

Default Amp over heating?

How hot are amps supposed to get?
I never really check, but today I checked after having it on for about 30 minutes and it was really hot..... is this normal? Maybe my setting are to high....

meh......
amps can get pretty hot to the touch.
what brand//model do you have?

any decent amp will have an auto shutoff that powers down the amp if it reaches an unstable temp.

to keep temps down, you can mount the amp vertically and you want to make sure you dont cover up your amp with anything that will hold heat.

i always use little spacers when i mount amps so that the bottom of the amp isnt pressed against the mounting surfacea and it has proper cooling.

well its best to have the amp mounted preaty flat.. if ya have it mounted straight up on the side of the box then move it to the top... or if ya have it mounted under the seat move it more in the open.. it just doesnt have enough cooling area...


but ya amps will get preaty hot after some hard use..... but they SHOULD have a protection and turn the amp off itself.

ref amps have protection so they are fine. since you have two of them you know that the protection circuit is still good because what is the chance of two amps having blown protection circuits?
