Exclamation Door Speakers Wiring Help

I am just upgrading my car system but one thing I have never been able to do is running wire to my door speakers. How do I run the wires from my amp to the front speakers, do I run the wires up my center cosole to my head unit, then splice the wires behind the head unit in order to connect my door speakers.

You can do it that way but depending on the wattage your running to the speakers its always recommended to run wires directly to the speakers.

In my 93 there was a connector that was in the door and i wasn't really able to get around it so i made a hole in the door jam and ran the wires through that. I shold have used some grommets to ensure they stay in place and what not but i was in a rush and used some black tape.

What year is your car? This information will allow other users to possible lead you in the correct direction.

here is a pic of how i did mine, not the bast way at all but it works:

What is the best way to get the wiring straight to the door speakers.

Well it can be done believe me, but its very tricky and a pain in the butt. See the way that door wiring is designed is that it has an actual wire harness with the connector where it looks like the wires go through. So you can't just slide the wires through that rubber thing because the plastic harness (molex connector) is in the way. So what you do is you pull the plugs out and find spots where there are no pins and drill a hole through there and run the wires, that part is the hardest. Plus just trying to find where the wires enter the car is hard enough.

I did it on the passenger side of my car because it wasn't to hard to drill a hole in the connector but on the drivers side since there are so many connections (at least on a ex sedan) I didn't wanna risk messing up the pins and loosing power windows etc. so on my drivers side I just ran it through the stock wires. I'm pushing a lot of power too and it still sounds great.

Anyways if you wanna try the12volt.com has a general guide here:

well there is another way BUT its still not easy....

you could buy some door loom

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUTOL...Q5fAccessories

then cut and splice/extend the wires to delete the wire harness..

at least thats what i bought for my 96dx because i plan on adding power locks, windows.... and i also plan on suiciding my doors eventually

just a idea.... i wouldnt just drill a hole like another guy did but it will work... i did that on my 66impala to add power locks all ghetto. mainly it looks bad and the wires just fold up all the time when ya close the door... and i had one wire that got cut and shorted out on the metal from a burr on the metal....

tho i did wrap my wires in black electrical tape so mine does blend in ALITTLE.LOL
you can see the black taped wires right above the sill plate afew inches up
ive had it hooked up like that for o hell.... 10years now... other than that one shorted wire when i first installed them i havent had any problems with the wires. only problem ive had is with my ghetto @ss button/switches i used for the power locks, and the alarm system remote controls stoped working properly.LOL

on my hatch I ran the wires through the existing rubber grommet. I don't have power anything so there was plenty of room for one speaker wire to get through. I just used a wire hanger that I bent straight and fished the wire through.

but if you have power windows, locks, and mirrors then there are a lot more wires in the grommet so it may be a lot harder to do, if its possible at all.
