Driver Side Speaker Trouble?
Hey Guys,
Totally new here, but I was refered here by a friend.
I drive a 2003 Civic LS.
I have been having some trouble with my driver side speaker (the one in the door pannel). It's the same speaker system that came with the car. About 3 or 4 months ago, it just went out. Even though I never turn the speakers up that loud, I figured it had just blown out. However, every once in a while, the sound will return again and it sounds normal for just a few seconds, and then it cuts back out again.
Any idea what might be happening and is there anything I can do to fix it? If so, please keep in mind that I am not terribly experienced with taking apart cars
.
Thanks a lot.
Brian

The connection is loose on the speaker...oddly. Simply pop the panel off, unscrew the speaker and make sure the connections are firm. If this is not the case, your radio has gone fooie and will need replacement. I would snag a low line Eclipse or Alpine as a replacement. It would do wonders for the sound in your car.
I would say the connection just came loose on the back of the speaker... I dont have that gen civic so I dont really know how to get to it, but i would imagine the speaker cover just pops off... if not there are a few screws in the door then you can pop off the door panel... but the connection is probably just loose and you hear it sometimes bc it will touch and some sound will come through... so check that out, and maybe someone else can help you with that specific gen
Thanks for the suggestion. When I said I'm not very experienced with taking a car apart, what I really should have said was, I have practically no experience. So evn taking off a door pannel and checking the wiring and connections makes me a bit nervous. Anywhere I can go (on the web) to find proper instructions of how to do this? I really don't want to risk screwing anything up.
Dont be too afraid of it. It merley pulling off the grill to the speaker. Nothing to it. It is almost idiot proof. If you can connect a computer you can sure as hell do this. Just pull the grill off, use a standard phillips head screw driver and make sure the (2) connections are snuggly plugged onto the speaker.
