Easy Sirius install?
New here. I have owned several Hondas in the past, but this is my first civic. My 06 EX has the nav uit with XM. My civic has the AUX input as ytou all know. My question is can I buy one of the FM modulator and plug it into the AUX and not have to use the wireless feature? Can someone give me a step by step on how to do it? Is it as simple as connecting the Sirius antenna to the back of the unit. Then connect the power to the unit. Do I plug anything into the FM modulator. Pics would help.

Im slightly confused on what your trying to do.
Are you using an external Sirius unit or trying to use the XM built into the factory radio? If you are using an external unit like this one: http://logo.blogs.com/photos/uncateg...iriusradio.jpg Then all you need is a 3.5mm to 3.5mm wire such as this: http://www.milkhoneyland.com/images/...ig/AACB004.jpg plug that into the audio out of the sirius dock and then plug it into your aux in plug in the car and it will put sound through that instead of the wireless fm mod. For a cleaner install you can install a wired fm modulator such as this: http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/pro...4110-f_dgp.jpg This works but removing the factory antenna plug from the back of the radio and plugging it into the black box and then plugging the black box into the radio antenna spot. Then you run the small plug to the FM OUT port on the sirius dock I hope this helps you in what your trying to figure out because Im still slightly confused on what your trying to do. |
You don't need a modulator at all, use the AUX input and it will have better sound.
So you buy an external receiver like 315 said, connect it to power and AUX, select AUX on your factory radio, and it will play. |
Thanks 2 u both. Both of your answers answered my questions. The FM modulator is to replace the antenna. Ok got it. So all I need to do is find 3.5mm plug it into the back of the unit and into the AUX below the power port.

well if the car doesnt already have a satellite antenna already then the hardest part is routing the wire around your rear window seal. other than that satellite radio is pretty easy to install.

it doesnt have to be the rear window. We use the windshield 99.9% of the time and put the antenna on the driver side corner of the roof where it meets the windshied and run it under the molding. The windshield molding we find a lot easier then the rear window molding

Thats the part that kills me..... people running all the antenna wire to the REAR. There is no differance from the front to the rear, other than it's loads easier to go to the front....
on the 06, there is plenty of area to get it up on the front. |
