So I drive a 96 civic coup ex and have had an alpine cde 102 stereo for a couple of years now and all of the sudden it has been shutting off and causing my speedometer to spike when it does. The battery is only a couple of years old and if I leave the stereo off I have had no major electrical problems that I have noticed Any guesses of what is going on?

 

check the wires in the back of the radio for shorts and grounds
