Default feel retarded for asking this...but (tailights)

my civic's left brake lights won't work. So I checked it out, and pulled out the bulb and I couldn't know how I could see if the bulb is out. And, it seemed like nothing was wrong with it, so what should I do to fix it? Is there anything else I should check?
(For fuses, the BOTH brake lights stops working when the fuse blows right?)

Yea, this is only one fuse for both, at least for 92-95, I don't think this changed.
And to check the bulb you just get the known good one and swap it there...
