Default Front Rear Speakers Suggestions

hi, i am looking to upgrade my front and rear speakers in my 1999 civic coupe. i want to know what size speakers i need to get for the front and rear so that i would have no fitment or clearance issue at all. i want it to be exact fitment. if i install aftermarket speakers for the front can i still use the stock speaker cover? also, what speakers would to guys recommend, preferably something that is inexpensive and decent, not looking for the best but just decent ones for daily driving.

i've been looking around and saw in one of the threads of someone recommending this side to get the speakers http://www.millionbuy.com/ anyone deal with them before, what's your experience. i've been looking around and gone down to 3 brands of front and rear speakers. Pioneer premier, sony (because i have a sony gt520 HU), and infinity reference. which one would be decent. thinking about spending around $150. also i see that there are 2 way, 3 way, and 4 ways. what do they mean and which would be better.

If you want no fitment issues, you are going to need to look for some shallow mount 6.5" speakers for the front doors and just about any 6x9 will do for the rear deck. As for 2/3/4 way, it all depends on what you like. I normally opt for 2 way speakers because that is my personal preference, yet I have some friends who like the 4 way Pioneer Premier speakers.

Now you can go for some deeper speakers in the doors, but you will have to remove the panel and hack away at some plastic. I went with the Alpine SPS-600 coax speakers in my 1997 Civic, and they are a vast improvement over the stock speakers that were in there. As for the rears, I may end up getting some of those 6x9 inch Tang Band subwoofers: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=264-837

I am not a big fan of high frequency sound coming from behind my head, nor do I want to squeeze a big subwoofer box into my Civic.

I think you will like your setup, especially when you compare it to what was in there stock! If you ordered from Crutchfield, they are going to include instructions on how to change out the speakers. The front doors are fairly simple, the rear speakers will be a pain in the rear if your vehicle comes apart similar to a 1997.

ETA: Here is the DIY for the rear speakers: https://www.hondacivicforum.com/m_181421/tm.htm

ETA2: The door speakers are fairly straight forward. The factory grills pull off, then you unscrew the old speakers, disconnect wires, remove. After that, connect new wires, drill new screw holes, tighten screws, snap door grills back into place, then enjoy.

that's the diy i read about installing. i did get my speakers from crutchfield (first time dealing with them) mainly because it comes with the speaker wires and installation instructions free. and the price wasn't that bad. i have a 99 civic coupe so i would assume it will come apart similar to the 97's. hope i got a good setup. this setup is gonna go with my sony gt520 HU and while i got the speakers, i decided to also get from amazon the ipod accessory to control my ipod on my HU and also an HD radio tuner. can't wait for everything to come. also, for the wiring of the speakers are they just plug and play? or some minor wiring stuff involve?

Basically plug and play. I took apart the stock plugs and plugged them into my speakers. Didn't have to cut anything up.

The rear deck, it might be different for coupes but on my four door 98 civic I just put down the rear seats, push hard in the middle of the side cushions while pulling on the top, this gets the top of the side cushions loose, pop the rear deck out, push the side trim away from the rear deck, take the seat belts out of the little slot, and slide it out. Takes me at most 5 min

dont get anything but either component speakers or 2 ways. Reason: Component set is the best u can get, u have a mid and a tweater. 2 way consists of a mid and a tweater.....everything else on like a 4 way is a marketing trick, dont be fooled. 2 way coax speakers is what your going to want. Try Some Polk DB coax speakers - they sound great.
