Hard to install?

This is my first post in this section ever! I have a 92 HB and it has a ****ty tape deck in there. I am buying a new Sony deck. I have no clue about how to install it, Im an engine guy. Is this something I can do myself? How long would it take and do I need any other parts, like wires or anyting? Its just the deck, no speakers.

imo, very easy. you will need a dash kit, which you can find almost anywhere, and a wire harness since your a novice. just install the dash kit, match the wires on the deck to the harness then plug the harness and it should be good to go!

There will be a sony one with the unit, and buy a honda one, and then those harness will go together, good as gold.

RE: Hard to install?

Splice the wires to your harness adapter at the workbench, then go to the car, pull the old radio and plug in your new one. The stock radios have a bolt or two in the underside of the back (technically, the end toward the front of the car, but the back of the radio) holding them in. Back supports for the aftermarket unit are also sold seperately and a good idea if that's your yellow car in the picture.

If your present "****ty tape deck" is not the OEM Honda one, there's a good chance the last guy didn't do the job properly with a harness adapter, instead cutting the factory wires. Either you do the same half' job; or if you're a real purist, cut the radio plug out of a parts car and splice it to your factory wires, restoring it to a stock configuration. Or if he did use an adapter you can reuse it with the new Sony you're installing.
