your headunit will not make good friend with your light socket. Go to radio smack and get an ac/dc converter. Speaking of, i dont know why on earth you would want to run a car unit in a house...

just get the wireing harness, and attach all the wires toughter, dont sader them toughter, and dont install it, just have it sitting there and you can see if you want to keep it or not...we had a dc converter at the shop i used to work at..you plug it in on one end, and the other end they have a red and black connecter, you just hook the yellow and red (im pretty sure) to the red connecter and ground the other ..this just turns the deck on, you cant play music or anything

no

you cant just simply wire the red and yellow together and touch the black on the negative battery terminal and the red/yellow on the positive.
