hey guys i have just noticed that my head unit has started heating up? i mean not warm to the touch this bad boy gets way hot. is this normal?

 

Head units get hot. Try to ventilate the unit if possible. If you can't then another option is to get a 4 channel amp. A 4 channel amp is more efficient and cools faster. It will save your head unit from having to power the speakers and the head unit will run much more cool and last longer.
