Default How to improve stock HU '97 Civic?

After a little advice from you guys on improving my stock HU so I can play songs through my phone or portable player. What could you guys recommend me ? (Don't say FM transmitter cause I think the sound quality is lame )

I have read about a device called "Auxiliary Audio Input Interface" costing about USD80, which can do the job. Information was from http://http://pac-audio.com/productS...=1997&YearId=8

I would just replace the headunit entirely with a new one... you'll get better sound out of a nicer one anyway.

That's a good point. Seems like it wouldn't fit in that place very well that's all.

What did Honda intend for that cavity I marked with red is for anyway ? I wouldn't trust it for anything valuable when I'm feeling in a hoon mode

That's where the optional Honda CD player goes. I think you can put a regular DIN headunit down there, but I personally would rather have it where the stock one is.

Actually, that area in red, where the stock cd player would have gone, is a single din mount, perfect for a radio. i used to install them down there all the time when a customer had a '97 with keyless entry. plus, flip open the cup holder and it's completely hidden. thief looks in and sees a stock honda tape player.

As long as the shifter is not in the way, and is that a cig tray-only or is it a cup holder u use?, in which case it would be kind of ackward too.

That a CASSETTE?!! God almighty am afraid to say aloud I know what a cassette is.

Forget the adapter man, just get a new head. Even the cheapy ones will give u a USB interface, 'coz soon enough u want to hookup some 128 gig thumb drive in there!
