Instrument panel wont light up
 

My friend wired up a cd player in my car yesterday, cd player works fine, all my gauges work fine, but the lights wont work on my instrument panel when i turn my headllights on. Any suggestions on what might cause this? I checked all my fuses, and every one of them is good.

did ya make sure to check the dimmer switch and make sure that did not get turned off??

Yes, along with checking all the plugs on the back of the panel where the radio is, and all the wires and connections to the radio.

Did your friend run wires behind the cluster? Maybe pulled the main harness to the cluster itself?

No, the only wires that were run were the ones coming right off the back of the radio, he actually ran the wires in the house, then took the harness-plugged one end in the cd player and one end in the factory wiring harness.

I'd be interested to know what could be wrong as well. My instrument panel lights up, but my gear shifter lights on the center console don't light up (i have an automatic).
