my system, is it good?
i have a boss head unit, and boss suround speakers, witha pheonix digtal 1000 watt 4 chanel amp for them, and 2 audiobahn 12's (special eddition) with a matching pheonix digital 2 chanel 1000 watt amp.
will this work out ok, or not?
what do you guys think?

keep the amps settings on where they were when the people installed it. they usually know what they are doing. if you turn them up, they will sound worse and overheat all the time.i set my amps at about halfway, and i never have a problem, and im running my sub at 2 ohms.
If all you want is loud crap yea, go for it. I like low smooth bass, so I tune the phase all the way down. It sucks less power and it doesnt sound like youve got it hooked up on a high pass.
Sacicons is right, amps in civic trunks overheat quickly, there is no circulation in them at all. Although if you have a good brand amp that is Class D you shouldnt have too much of a problem... they tend to run more efficiently and suck less power, thus not as much heat. But their harmonics are only sutiable for subwoofers. Also I've noticed that the pressure can be immense too. Lol, at one point I shoved a pack of matches in between my licsence tag and the frame to stop the rattling. I also dampend the entire car to stop rattling, improve sound, and lower the ride db's. Once I did that you could actually talk and hear others in the car really well! Im thinking about installing high power 5 1/4 speakers in the rear deck to relieve the pressure in the trunk and improve the subwoofers bass so it wouldnt have to fight itself as much anymore. I know that others with high powered bass noticed that the sub in their trunk interfere with their back deck speakers. I also killed an amp and ruined a sub because of my trunk BTW.
My solution to amp overheating problems is I took the inside panel off the back seat passenger side interior and mounted the amp to the inside of the body (out of sight, since I have a hatch). The body works really good as an extra heat sink, which helps when you're pushing big wattage. I'm running 1000 RMS to two 10's. Obviously, those aren't the biggest numbers out there, but it's not how many watts you got; it's how GOOD it sounds... I too am a fan of the sealed-box, balanced bass (C'mon. It just sounds better...). That way, people don't HEAR you from five blocks away; they FEEL you... First generation Infinity Kappa Perfects are still the subs to beat... hands down. If you haven't heard 'em, I'm truly sorry.
yea those first generation kappa perfects kick ***. I dont like the new ones, some people try to trick you by telling you they are perfects but really there are only kappas. I wish that harman kardon would start whipping out car audio, it would be really nice. They have made a head unit I like that simple and stupid but sounds GREAT! Here is an article on it: http://carsound.com/articles/publish/article_153.shtml
in my opinion get rid of the boss stuff. sell it on ebay or something. sell the amps and get audiobahn amps. they come with built in fans and i have never had any problems with it. if i am wrong let me know. but hands down they are the best amps for the money.
