Default Question about Alarms

Hey all, first off i would like to apologize if i posted in the wrong section, but i think good audio systems go hand in hand with a good alarm.

ne way to the question. I just finished putting a fairly expensive audio system in my car and was wanting to put a good car alarm in my car. However i am not at all familar with car alarms. So i was wondering what the best bang for your buck alarm is, and where i could find it. As well as where is a good place to shop for car alarms ( ie online, best buy, dedicated audio shops) where will i find the best deal. All opinions welcome. Thanks ahead of time.

You did it backwards, its suppose to be an alarm first, then the audio.

Anyway Viper is great and Id go to a car audio only chain.

I was thinking the same. But I digress. I dont have an alarm but my headunit virtually cant be stolen. Eclipse baby. I even got the big stickers that are on my windows to warn theives that its not worth stealing.

Viper is good and reliable. Included in the viper category is clifford, python, valet, rattler, shelby, and hornet since they are all made by dei.
Compustar and Scosche are a little better in myopinion but cost a great deal more.
Shy away from alarms online. Always have an installer install a brand that theycarry.
I have installed most brands.

I dont belive that Compustar is more expensive, but Im not sure about that.

Ive been installing for 6 years now and If I was offered any alarm I wanted for free I would choose viper, period.

I have been installing just as long. I installed viper for 3 years. I like the compustar more. It has 7 aux outs that can be set for latching, or any pulse up to 90 seconds. I will agree the viper responds a little faster to the press of a button. Other than that the compustar is more superior. DEI never takes a leap in technology.

Ok in my opinion DON"T Buy CLIFFORD they have so many cool fetures that they malfunction alot. About 80% of my alarm fixes are on cliffords. I've had luck with avital (which is so much like viper.) I have an avital 5500 I think lol been so long. It has remote start and alarm trunk release but none of that stupid call your car crap. The shop I work for just picked up the Newly redesigned Ungo Alarms and they seem to be good. Not to bad to install. GOTO A CAR AUDIO ONLY SHOP. Please support your local shop. Plus the big chain stores are wham bam sorry your alarm was disabled type install. Good Luck.

BTW Expect to pay bout $300 installed for just alarm or bout $400 start/alarm. That is a estimate because everyone has diffrent prices.
