Angry Radio antenna gone bad!

Hey guys I need some serious advice as Im just about to lose it on my civic lol. I was replacing the radio antenna on my 94 civic hatch, and the string that I tied to the one end of the antenna broke off as it was coming up, so I cant lead the new antenna back down and into the cab this way anymore. Any suggestions on what to do? Ive got the dash half torn down and Im playing with some mechanics wire. Im just about ready to buy a hood mounted universal antenna and call it quits lol. What are some suggestions or has this happened to anyone, how did you sove the problem?

I think you said you are trying something like this, but this would be my recommendation.

Get some safety wire, or something like a hanger that's straightened out, tie/tape/ whatever an audio (flexible) to it. Snake the hanger through, and grab the speaker wire off of it. Pull the hanger out from where you originally stuck it in at the top (no homo) once the speaker wire has been removed.

Now tie the other end of the speaker wire (that's on the outside of the car) to the end of the antenna and slowly pull the wire through as you're helping the antenna in.

Hopefully, that was logical and understandable...I didn't re-read it to make sure

o ya been there done that it is a huge PITA for sure!!!!!!!
if it keeps being a PITA and you get really pissed.... remove the pillar trim and drill a hole into the pillar shell to slightly help route the wire.

i used some hard 10-12gauge wire to route it down from the roof and under the dash. it comes out alot lower in the dash the way i got mine... but it was the only way i could get it and the cable was long enough so it wasnt a problem.
if you got a friend it can make it alot easier to have him pull the wire up and down from the roof while you feel around under the dash for the wire moving so you can grab it.

youll pretty much be working blind which is what makes it such a PITA.LOL took me about an hour to get that wire hard wire, and once i finally had it a put a hook on the wire around the antena wire and used electrical tape all over that sucker to make sure it wouldnt slide off! because if it slides off.... well its all over again.LOL

but if you still cannt get it, then you can always just buy a windshield mounted autoloc antena and just delete your roof antena.

ALMOST did that, was rushing through it and almost didn't tie the string. there's a diy somewhere on what happens if you're in that situation, i'll try looking it up for ya

edit: sorry bro can't find it, it's been a while

Thanks Addiction, I actually found a good solution to this problem and this may help others later on and its similar to whats mentioned here. What I did was I removed the pillar moulding, and found that one of the snap holes that the pillar moulding snaps into just so happened to be right below the antenna hole on the roof. So I widened that snap hole so the antenna wire could fit threw.

I then ran the antenna wire down the pillar and snapped it into the convinient wire snaps already there for some other little wires. Then it was a simple pilar to lower dash route and to the radio. Mind you with the pilar moulding attached again and the antenna secured in place on the roof, nothing is visiable and you can't tell if it runs from the original spot or if it is in the pillar (which it is) this makes snapping strings and the PITA that changing the antenna is on a 92-95 civic simple and pain free. If I can get a few pics I will (I lost my camera battery charger in my mess of a room) definitely keep this tip in mind though if it happens.

NOW.... I just have to figure out why my cigarette lighter that I wired in isn't providing power to the satellite radio unit? I did some testing with a few other cars cigarette lighters and they worked so its not the unit and cigarette lighter socket will definitely feed it power.?

that or you wired it up reversed that is
the center prong is power and the outter is ground.

Thanks addiction Ill check this out tommorow and let you know how it works out. I have some sub wiring questions as well I should probally start a new thread. Im trying to wire up a single alpine type e (nothing crazy but some decent low's I suppose) and Im having trouble with the amp, Im not sure if I wired it right or if the amp cant handle the sub.
