Default RE: Radio Security Code - Please help out a friend

I am in process of restoring my radio firmware after having disconnected the battery. The serial number on my 04 civic was displayed by holding in the 1 and the 6 digits while turning the unit ON. The display produced two lines in sequence, each with a prefix of U or an L followed by a four digit number. Hope this helps someone because the previous posts in the thread helped me.

So what is the best way to take care of this problem ?

The car battery died and then when i got a jump the radio would not work then... it says CODE..

is it worth it taking it to the dealer and have them take me for my money

or

should i just get a new aftermarket radio ?

Please respond

Wow... I hope you didn't take the radio out yet that will not be fun. Most stock Honda systems have the SN posted on a hidden sticker in the glove box... Give this number to Honda, they should charge you $0 to type it into their computer and get your code. If the number is not in the glove box then you will have to take the radio out. Or you can have Honda do this for you for $100... Check the Manual it might be written in there (by a previous owner) as well.

They aren't going to charge you anything.
If they do, go somewhere else because that's basically BS.
