Removing the Rear Deck on a 97 Civic DX
I have the DX model, so the DIY doesnt work for me, only one half of the seat comes down in my car. The other half, it seems is bolted to a metal latch type thing. Has anyone successfully removed their seats and had access to under their rear deck on the 96-98 civic dx?
I want to put this eDead in it but i just cant get it up.

humm im not sure if its the same as a 2000 model..but do you have the key thing on the top of your rear deck to open the back seat? if yes, turn the key one way to open one half of the seat, and turn the other way to get the other side open..if not..thos pull tab things in your trunk under your rear deck, pull thos and push the seat and it should open, thos are the only 2 things i can think of..unless the 97 seat dosent open all the way[&:]?

Once you have the seat down, remove them from the vehicle. Next you want to remove the rear quarter panels. I have found you can take one side out and then work the rear deck off, but taking both out will make it much easier to work with. Then remove the rear deck and TA-DA!!!! You have access to your rear speakers!!! Figure on spending about an hour on the whole ordeal with installing the speakers and everything and putting it back together. It isn't much fun, but hey, its better than dealing with stock tunes!!!
