Replacing 05 Speakers
So..how hard is it to pull off the front door panels and back cover to replace the speakers. I got a quote from a guy who would put the new speakers in at 70$ per pair...seems a little steep to me, so wanted to see if doing them myself would be difficult.
edit: it looks like its going to be a son of a bitch to replace those back two speakers. tried to pry the speaker grilles off a bit, they dont seem to want to budge. |
you have to remove the whole rear panel, not just the grills
|
how? if i can ask a dumb ?...

I dont know about an 05 but in my 92 lx there is bolts that hold the speaker grilles down, i just loosened them up popped the grills off and did a little cutting around the stock holes, and put in kicker ds650s, the fronts were easy to, i just popped off the speaker covers on the door and popped the first clip below the cover and took a flat head screw driver to pop out the rest, of course removing the door handle and the misc screws first.

The front door panels are easy to take off.
You'll probably have to remove the rear seats to remove the rear panel. I wish they had just made the rear speakers removable from inside the trunk. Good luck :) |
well, so i got my car worked on last week. got the alpine type r 6 1/2"s n the back and some crappy memphis 5 1/4"s n the front. got em amped up w a kenwood 600wt amp..sounds loud..just NO bass at all. so..we will see what im going to do.
