Satellite Radio and 2008 Civic Hybrid

Yesterday I purchased a used 2008 Civic Hybrid. It is the base model, cloth seats, not XM ready. I have been trying to see if it is possible get an internal satellite radio installed. The only cosmetic difference between the radios of non-XM ready and XM ready is that the "AUX" button becomes "AUX/XM". I have found a thread elsewhere that seems to indicate you can plug an XM receiver into a radio that is not advertised as XM ready (http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/i-c-e...io-please.html). Does anyone know if this is true? If it is true, how do I do it? I am fairly tech savy, but not when it comes to cars. I am also interested in avoiding the $600 dealer installation.

I gave the dealer a call. They can install an XM receiver into the head unit I have and they are willing to do it for cheap, $731 cheap. I chose not too because I could do a lot of better things with that much money, but thought I would share my findings in case anyone else has this same question.

Sharing more findings: I got a Sirius SCC1 with the HON-SC1 adapter installed a couple of days ago. I paid a total of $215 (including parts shipping and installation) and now I have Sirius hooked up to my head unit. The only thing that isn't working right is that the channel buttons on the steering wheel only change the channel, not the preset.
