Default SONY XM-DS1300P5

Hey everybody, I'm a brand new civic owner. . .i've already been struck with the bug of wanting to upgrade some components. . . i plan get a pioneer deh-p-6800p(680) or a deh-p7700p(770) (whichever I can find the better price, both radios look nice) as well as a 2ohm Jl audio 10w3 and I was looking at the SONY XM-DS1300P5 for the sub amplifer. . .I plan to use only one sub and the sony amp can do 2ohms. . .I don't plan to run it really hard, just enough to round out the sound. . .does anybody have any experience with the amp?

It's a sony product. In my past experience, and i'm sure most will agree with me, that sony products are not the best (to say it nicely.) They are a mass produced product, that can not live up to most expectations. I have a Infinity 310a amp which hasnt been used that may push that 10 inch W3. Either way, I would look around on ebay or www.crutchfield.com to dind a lot beteer stuff at a reasonable price.

performance as a whole. They just can't perform in the car audio world compared to leading brands as JL, Infinity, Eclipse, just to name a few. I have a infinity 310A i'll sell you for a 110 including shipping. I can also get you a deal on a pioneer deck (I work at circuit city.)

if you plan on bridging the sub woofer make sure the amp is 1 ohm mono stable. once that sub is bridged it will be at 1 ohm mono. so that means it's going to draw a lot of amperage.

I'm not entirely sure that amp can be bridged. . .but thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to not overdo the power; although, with my budget, I don't see too much power as being a problem I'll be faced with

alright! I managed to pickup a p7700mp for 127 off ebay. . .it's been refurb'd but that's fine. . .has a warranty and all the parts that come with a new retail radio. . .she arrives monday I'm stoked. . .now for the subwoofer and amp. . . I'm planning on going just one sub(i use to have 2 10w6's in my truck, I think I'm gonna go more modest this time around). . .should I go 10w3v2 or 12w3v2? I want to keep as much trunk space as possible. . .if price difference isn't much, I'll go 12 in but right now I've spoken with a few people that can give me a good deal on a 10w3. . .this stuff is difficult when impatient
