Speaker Box Design Help

Hi,

Well I want to take a crack at building my own speaker box. I suck at it and was wondering if some one could help me or make me a plan. I could even afford a little $ for your time. I have tried box calculators but really don't understand how to calculate the right type of box for my subs.

Thanks for your help.

Jeff

RE: Speaker Box Design Help

Build a box that is 15x15x15. THat would be a great starter/builder box for ya. And cut and 11" hole in the front and drop in a 12" sub. Make the box sealed and put ass-tons of polly fill in it.

Step one: gather materials.
Caulk/liquid nails (i personally prefer caulk)
Box of 1" hardwood screws
1 sheet of 3/4" MDF (medium density fiberboard
Automotive carpet if you would like
A drill
Wire terminals
Jig saw
And 3M carpet glue

Step 2:
Cut the box, fit every thing properly and screw.
Cut hole for subwoofer generally 1 inch smaller than stated sub. for example: 10" sub: cut 9 inch hole to fit. 12" sub: cut 11" hole and fit.
use caulk to seal ALL cracks and corners inside the box. Use you finger to line the cracks good. Go genrous on caulk.
Drill terminal hole for the terminal
Fit terminal and screw in, dont forget to caulk the insaide edges of it.
Wire the insade fo the box and get ready for subwoofer.

Step 3
Load ass tons of Poly fill into the box.
Load in sub and make sure its squared off properly.
Dont forget to wire it.
Screw sub in.
Wire to amp
Boom.

Note: put carpet on first before screwing in sub if you are doing so.

If he was going to build a box that wasn't designed with his subs specfically in mind, he could just buy a prefab and be done with it. Remington I don't know you very well, but that doesn't seem like something with your knowledge would recommend.

Xoopiter:

What sub do you have?

I was spitting out a typical set-up... more of a psuedo universal box.

Universal boxes are the #1 reason an awesome sub can sound like a clipped MTX roadthunder. :)

Do a 2 cubic foot setup.

OK,
I think that will be easy. Do I need to line it with fiber fill? or Fiber wrap the sides? Where can I get this stuff?

Thanks
Jeff
