Speaker size for a 1997 Honda Civic?
 

After researching different spec sites, I was led to believe that the door speakers were 6.5 inches, so I went out and bought two new 6.5 inch speakers, went to wire them in, and found out that they were too big! Does anyone know the ACTUAL size, so I can get the RIGHT speakers this time? Also, how the heck do I replace the 6x9 speakers in the rear deck? I spent almost three hours last night trying to figure out how to remove the originals, but I just can't figure it out o_O

I had a similar problem with the door speakers in my '97. They ended up being about 1/4" larger in diameter than the stock ones, so they required some trimming to fit. Mine were also deeper than stock, so I had to do a lot of trimming to get them to fit inside the OEM plastic basket. In the end, most of that nicely-designed factory shielding was cut away, but the speakers fit flush and you'd never know they weren't stock.

gotta remove almost all of the backseat area to get to the rear speakers, was a pita.
