Default Stereo System Recomendations

Looking for suggestions for car audio system. I've got a '99 EX Sedan and my factory CD player recently died. Want a decent system but I'm not gonna pay over $1000 for one but I am aware you can get a decent sounding loud system for under that from the research I have done so far. I don't listen to a lot of rap, mostly stuff like Yellowcard, Relient K, Oasis, Amber Pacific, a lot of rock and punk type stuff.

One main questions I had, was 1 or 2 subs?

Also, feel free to give any suggestions for speakers, amps.... whatever.

Also, I'm planning on doing the istallation myself, and building the sub enclosure myself which will save me some money.

Well, since know one has chimed in yet, I'll list some of the stuff I have already been looking at and thinking about.

For speaker amp:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-MfCxlVM...p?I=500MRPF450

For Sub amp:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-MfCxlVM...p?I=500MRPM450

For the Head Unit:

For the Subwoofer Speaker:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-MfCxlVM...p?I=500SWR1022

That's the stuff I think I want for sure right now. I might not get it all from crutchfield because I've seen some of the stuff cheaper other places. Anyways, I'm still unsure about the speakers, but I know I'm going coaxial. Feel free to chime it any time with any kind of suggestions/comments.

I have that head unit, I love it so much. A lot of options and some cool visualizers, no camals though .But there is a sub output, front and rear speaker outputs if you want 2 amps for speakers, and I think 2 aux imputs an dan Ipod interface input which lets you controll your ipod from the headunit and you can hide your ipod in the glovebox. Some equalizer presets and 2 custamizable ones. Im sure youve read all this before researching it. I love it so much, favorite one ive had by far.

ltkenbo, you got the right idea on matching things, if u get all alpine it will sound clean and awesome, or all pioneer, so on so forth. Some combo's work good, Rocksford and Pioneer for one, but some dont. If u get alpine deck, subs, amp, etc, itll work great! But dont be afraid to stray from name brands. for 500$ i got 2 10 in. powerbass subs in a basswerx box and a 1200watt powerbass amp with the whole 4 guage wire install kit. It was a great deal on it all plus its all class competition. Totally RATTLES my entire car and people that park next to me. But i got 2 tweeters and all 4 factory speakers which are working great so its not bass drowning everything out, its working good together.

Where you located? i went to Chronic car audio but they are an AZ and NV only company. Best deals tho.

Eric.

ORIGINAL: ENERGY TURTLE
no camals though
What's a camal?

Yeah I've heard really good things about the head unit. My friend has one and I played around with it and really liked the iPod interface and everything. I kind of wish it was green (to go with my theme) but the majority of head units come in blue and I like this one a lot anyways. Yeah the outputs are perfect especially since I'm running 1 4 channel amp and a sub amp.

As far as the best buy thing, you can't get this head unit that cheap, it's $200 usually $270. And the ipod feature is what I like the most.

Anyways, what do you guys think of the rest of the setup?

Scroll down to the visualizers and look on the right side, the third one up from the bottom with the camals walking... It doesnt have that one and some of the other ones I wanted, but no biggie.

Oh by the way, I have an audiobahn amp and a 10" kicker L7 with kicker 0/1 guage amp kit and it all works wonderful together. But 0 guage wire doesnt fit into my amp so I have to bring it down to 4 guage.

I am located in Tennessee, Memphis when I'm home, and when I'm at school I'm in Cookeville (hour outside of nashville). The whole setup is only costing me $800 (plus installation supplies) though and I listened to those speakers at Best Buy and liked them. I priced that stuff at onlinecarstereo.com and they had great prices, especially compared to crutchfield and they are an authorized dealer so like all the stuff comes with a 1 year warranty. I'm selling my air horn compressor system so that will pay for like half, and hopefully I'll get the other half for Christmas.
