Default TV Tuners?

I was wondering.. I've seen someone mention they had a TV Tuner in their in-dash video, and I was like "Wow.. No way, thats pretty badass." So does anyone know anything about this? If so, i'd be interested in getting one for my Dual http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=18478. It would be a nice feature to add to it :P. Though, its probably illegal as hell, especially driving.. Haha. I was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this, please.

I don't think that unit will receive TV broadcasts, it does play DVD's. It does have a video input. If you want to play with that you could use an old VCR as a TV tuner. Anyway, analog local TV is scheduled to go off the air in 2009 (unless they delay it again). There are some technical reasons that make it pretty much impossible to receive digital local TV in a moving vehicle.

It is illegal to have any sort of video playing on a screen that the driver can see while the car is in motion.

Yeah, thats what I kinda figured. I knew there had to be something tricky to it.. Because, it would seem near impossible to recieve channels, besides basic cable channels, you know? So it kind of stumped me.. And yeah, I know that any type of video playing is illegal, thats why I wired my one wire to a killswitch instead of my ebrake so my friends can play Guitar Hero 3, while I drive somewhere and whatnot.

ya ditch the tuner idea...... i had one along time ago and it only got like 1 MAYBE 2 good channels the rest were HORIBLE static!!!!!!!!

your best bet is to get a DVD burner and a tv tuner for your computer and then download some shows or something and burn them onto a dvd and then play them thru the system with a dvd.
works great!!!!!
i downloaded a bunch of music videos, burned them onto a few dvds and play thru my system......

Ahhh.. Sweet. I can't find any place to download good quality avi music videos.. I was thinking of burning a few seasons of Heroes, or some anime.. I dunno. But, more or less, I just wanted some input on the TV Tuner idea, thanks guys.

Any idea of where to download some quality music videos?
