my favorite radios are Alpines, no contest IMO

as far as speakers its really personal preference on which ones sound best. My favorite affordable speakers are infinity. but at the same time, I currently have alpine type r's and I am really happy with those as well.

If you like "crisp" go with Infinity speakers, though some people consider them unnaturally "bright" in the treble. I guess there's a fine line there.

Any reputable brand of head unit will have almost identical sound quality; choose based on features instead.

I have a Sony headunit and speakers and I like them. The headunit has the right features for my preferences (pre-sub control, DSO (makes the highs come out better), and basic EQ settings). The speakers are nice and crisp and the highs sound great. They have some decent bass if you get at least 6.5" speakers. I used to have 5 1/4" in the front doors and those don't have enough bass, I recommend the 6.5's.

Lots of people will talk trash about Sony, but I don't agree with those people at all. I also have a Sony 990W 5.1 home theatre system and it sounds great.

I will agree that sony does make great home theater stuff. I am not a fan of sony car audio because of the way it sounds, but it is still quality stuff. anyone that says sony's home theater is not good doesn't know what they are talking about.

I have a pioneer Head unit in my teg, with 4x pioneer premier 5 1/2's all around. Very excellent sound quality and bass for what it is. I paid $40/pair for the speakers and $150 for the deck. All brand new.

I'm looking for a 10"-12" pioneer sub and amp because I'm so pleased with the quality of my other pioneer stuff. I'll just wait til a killer deal comes along and get what I need.
