Default What does it do?

I am trying to hook up a 10" subwoofer and 200 watt amp in the trunk of my car. I still have the stock head unit, CD player, and speakers in my car.

My question is this: What does the small black box on the roof of the trunk do? It has the TDK logo on it and it is hard to tell if it's attached to the speakers or the lights, or if it's even connected to either. Help?

Car's a 2000 Honda Civic EX, Canadian model.

The small black box is attached to the rear deck in the trunk.

Looks like some kind of grounding device, or maybe a crossover. Might be a low pass filter.
