What is the last model year that has a single or double DIN stereo?
I was almost ready to buy an 09 Corolla, but I test-drove a Civc. So many things lead me towards the Civic, but the head unit being integrated into the dash totally turns me off. If I get the Civic I'll just get a Cleansweep and use outboard processing, but I'd rather use that money to buy a head unit with built-in 3-way active processing.

You can get a replacement dash for the new civics which will give you the opening for a double or single dinn radio.
Scosche makes them, or the best way to do it is to get the replacement dash from a Honda parts place like www.hondaautomotiveparts.com. The dash panel out of the civics that have the factory navigation has the opening for an aftermarket radio. you will just have to get the brackets too.
In this pic the pieces are numbers 12, 13, and 14

these are not necessarily the right color but you get the idea
