Default what size amp

i am building a custom system this summer after i get out of school because it is gonna take me a while..... but my question is "what size amp should i get" i have 2-12" C4 subs that are 600 watts a peace so 1200 total....... i only want a rockford fosgate amp.... i was thinking about gettting one that is a 600 watt 2 channel amp and i was also gonna get a bass controller........ do you guys think that is to much power and should get something small i want this system to really push those subs but i also dont want to blow them or not give them enough juice so what do you guys thinks.........to much or not enough?
