Default What years fit?

Would like to know what years and models audio systems will fit into a '97 Civic EX coupe. The physical dimensions aren't too particular, the wiring plug in is more important to me. Would like a stock AM/FM/CD, AM/FM/Cass. would be acceptable. Some dirtbags decided they wanted the previous audio system, so they took it. Am rather new to working on Honda cars. Thanks

Almost any single din radio will fit. If you want stock you won't get a CD player, at least I don't think they made a stock cd that year, it was probably still cassette.

You would be better off buying a bottom line Pioneer or Panasonic, Kenwood, etc.. Something at Wal-mart, and getting the harness that fits.

Wal-mart sells most of the Scoche *sp?* harnesses and some install kits. Look for something that says Honda Cars 1992 and up, or similar. It will tell you what it fits, most of the time. As for the mounting kit, it's just a few chunks of plastic. You can pick one up at almost any audio shop, best buy, etc.. Or might even find one at Wally.

If you have problems installing it you can call the tech support number with the harness and they will walk you through it for free.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. I had thought of going that way, but didn't want another broken window and a lost audio, but I guess the slugs only go for high end stuff, which is why I was looking for a factory radio not worth bothering the car for. I am probably going to go this way and purchase a used surround to put it in. Thanks again.

The stock ones in your car that have a cd or tape player place the radio where yours was but the cd/tape player in the little cubbie whole above the drink holders. I think I have a casset tape player from a stock one but you would still need to get he am/fm radio portion of it. I suggest a cheap aftermarket cd player. You can pick one up and best buy or wal mart for $100 to $120
