WTH is going on with stereo?!!!
01 Civic LX coupe came with crappy Panasonic HU so I put in Pioneer HU. Cut wires, twisted together matching color to color taped and worked fine. Got stolen two weeks later, so I put Panasonic HU back in doing same wiring as before. One month later without warning, GD thang recieves no power, will not turn on or work at all, and car alarm chirps but does not engage or disengage door locks. Now thinking about putting in stock Honda AM FM cassette player. Can anyone tell me WTH is going on? Thanks.
Yes, its def a fuse. My 00 has the stereo fuse inside the car but I woulndt know for an 01. Your alarm is hirping most likely to let you know something isnt peachy. See if you can get a voltmeter in there and find power to the back of the radio.
yes I used the volometer and power is going to the wires/harness. Checked all fuses under steering column and in engine bay, even replaced 15amp in HU itself and get nothing. Could I have shorted something out by only twisting wires together instead of installing properly?
No yellow and red do not go together. Yellow should always show 12 volts and red should show 12 volts only when the key is on. Veify both are doing that and then post back here.
ya i am having the same problem with my 2000 civic ex, i hooked and amp up to the stock stereo with a 2PAC converter, and now the stereo only works if the power and remote cables are combined but everytime i turn my car off, all power stops going to the stereo and then when i turn my car on, my stereo is reset and asks for my code everytime (i know it) but its the most annoying thing in the world....any suggestions since you had the same problem?
