Power Steering Fluid Level
Hi just a quick simple question.
I've just bought a S/H Honda Civic 2003 Insprire S VTEC, standard UK spec. Normally, on a car with power steering, I would expect to see a steering fluid reservoir and I would check the level in this regularly. However, on mine, there does not seem to be such a reservoir. Although the manual does mention that the power steering fluid level should be checked regularly, it does not say how to check it or where to look. Any ideas? Thanks Mark |
RE: Power Steering Fluid Level
If your Vtec's the same as mine, On the right hand side of the engine is a cylinder about the size of a tin can with a small filler cap on top, just next to the windshield washer reservoir, that's the poiwer steering fluid, should only need topping up at service unless you get a steering problem.

RE: Power Steering Fluid Level
Thanks - I will have another look.
However, I received this reply from a Honda dealer. "Your Civic is fitted with electric power steering, as such is driven off the vehicles electrical system. Therefore does not require fluid." I don't know much about anything to do with car mechanics to be honest, but this sounds wrong to me... Mark |
RE: Power Steering Fluid Level
As it's a new model this may be correct, I've never heard of electric power steering.
