Boy am I becoming a pest on this board. Got my first (ever)new Car just last week, I don't even have plates yet. Noticed my first scratch today. I knew the first one would really BUG me. But what can you do right?

It'sa small scatch in the back, below the trunk key, only about an inch long, if even that. Looks pretty light.

Just wanted some advice or options on what to do. Scratch Remover? Tiny bit of touch up paint, or..just leave it?

 

Wax and a buffing compound along with a buffer. can you take a pic of it? BTW your not a problem on here at all, the only stupid question is one that is not asked plus we like new people. Trust me the people on this site are great, hell I have not driven a honda in over 2 years and I'm still here.

I was hoping for a cheap remedy, one that doesn't require me getting a buffer. Could my dealer do anything for me?

you could try buffing by hand being it seems like a smaller scatch but if you do need to buy one it is one of those things that are really handy to have around.

 

But neither scratch remover or touch up paint should be used in my case?

 

I would try to buff it out first

 

this is my philosophy, as soon as you buy a new car, just go ahead and put a scratch on it, that way it's a lot less heartbreaking if it happens again, lol

I checked the scratch last night. It is light, but I can feel it with a fingernail so it's slightly deep. Still doesn't feel too bad though.

 

with car wax and a buffer, you can go out and get a nice one at walmart.....i got mine on sale for $18

 

I could swing $18. Not like I wouldn't use it again. Haha. Course sometimes I feel like I rather cut off body parts that go into a Wal Mart, but that's another story.

I read elsewhere that some of the auto glass water spot removers Im thinking about buying (One called DP something) can be used with an electric buffer. So maybe if I get it, I could take care of two problems.

The glass is actually bothering me more than the scratch!

Any tips/advice on using a buffer if I was to get one? I've never used one. Ever.
