Default day o' detailing

i spent all sunday detailing my car, started with wash and dry. i use two buckets and rinsed mitt after doing lower half of car. then used Meguiar's clay bar kit. first time using claybar. took alot of time and only really noticed it on bottom of doors and rear of car. i recomend only using the claybar if your car REALLY needs it, it WILL make ur paint "smooth as glass." Used Meguiar's polish and zymol wax. polish removed alot of scratches. the hood was spotless, some swirls were still seen on trunk and doors tho.

Car is shining! my car is black and is really hard to keep clean compared to my other car which was white.

i will post pics as soon as i figure out how. it was too dark for pics when i was done....took about 5 hours, from start to finish!

dont kno why i am even making a post about this, but i just wantr to share with some Civic enthusiasts

Lookin good man! Which Meguire's polish did you use?

Do you do all your stuff by hand or do you use a RO/wheel of some sort?

ya i have a few dents right in the middle of hood u can see from pic..but not really that bad or noticeable. previous owner must have sat on hood or climbed on it..idk

just polish from autoBONE...anything would really work ( now i always polish THEN wax my car..removews alot of scratches and makes it look SMOOTH, but takes longer)

do all by hand but i want to get an orbital set or something...mainly for the buffing process. i hate buffing with a rag!lol

Yeah I hear ya, doing it by hand sucks. And really, you'll never end up with results as good as when you do it with a wheel.

I just have a cheap RO right now, but hope to grab a Porter Cable sometime before next spring. If you want something to get you by without dropping a lot of coin, check out the Black n' Decker buffers. I think mine was about $35.

Yes, you should always polish BEFORE applying wax, otherwise the wax step is pointless, lol.
