That's why it's so expensive to change colors. They have to tear the whole car down. But if you don't spray the jambs and under the hood, it'll look second rate no matter how good the paint job is.

yea u def need to paint every aspect of you car. now u dont have to take off the doors, trunk, and hood to paint the jams but it is recommended. it doesnt take that much more time as long as you know what your doing.

well.. what if i painted it inca pearl again. im gettin Z3 fenders and a body kit so i will have to paint it anyway. just have them paint the fenders and not worry about the engine bay and doors.. just let him color match.

If you stayed with inca pearl then it would be cheaper than doing a color change. But, if you've got the cash and he's a pro, then I wouldn't worry about a color change at all. You won't know the difference.

You ask... How in the heck do you paint those? or do they stay the stock color?

The least you have to do to prepare a car for color change... To paint the engine bay, the engine has be pulled, there's just no way around it. To paint the door jambs, the interior will have to be taped off and covered as well. Same for the trunk. That's the "cheap" way...

But to do it right, you have to tear the whole car down like 98civic285whp said. Similar to this example... And yes, it's very pricey.

What color did you have in mind for the change?

I went to see how much it would cost to get my car painted from white to black and they said to be done right it would cost about 8,000 or more because they have to take the engine and the interior out to paint those parts. Yea if you want a car a particular color, buy it in that color. I learned the hard way.
