Reviving dead paint
 

Is there any way to revive dead paint without repainting the car? I plan on getting it repainted sometime in the future, but for now I would like to know if there is any way to mask the dead paint, or at least soften its appearance.

depends on how "dead" the paint is....

Used to be a kind of aqua/teal color, and is now a faded green to white color on top, and kinda scaly. The sun here in Florida kills all it touches.

I have the same "milky" fade to the top of my orig red 91 Si. I think it's the clear coat that oxidizes. Fine polishing compound then waxing seems to help some.

yeah my roof seems to have the same problem. ecxept mines red.... lol
i just try to wax it often so it doesnt looks as faded. it seems to help.

Is your clear coat all faded and peeling and ruined?

If so... it's already ruined. Might as well do some very light sanding to get rid of the clear, tape for overspray, grab yourself a can of pretty much any kind of clear coat, and spray a few coats to protect what's left of your paint. Its already ruined. What's the worst that can happen?

I don't think its peeling, although it might have done so already before I got it. I might just strip id down to the metal, paint it a nice champagne or silver, then clear coating it.

Try to use meguiars or mothers3 step detailing it could revive its original shine.
