Rinsing after waxing?

Rinsing after waxing?
So I washed and waxed my car today. It was really nice out. Haha.
Anywho. After waxing, I noticed a dusty like residue left from the wax. Maybe I used to much, or maybe just bad wax. But could I rinse my car down after I had waxed it, and got all the wax off? Or would that just undo all I just did?

Yeah, its probably just crappy wax as mentioned above. I used some Zymol on my last job and absolutely hated it. White powder all over the place. Usually, if you get the white powder, just keep hand buffing till its gone. Then go buy better wax

I just tried Turtle wax ' Ice'. It is clear liquid, goes on clear and wipes off easy. No residue at all. You can also use it on black trim, rubber and plastic. I thought it worked well and the shine is great.

I use ICE for washing the car then meguiar's wax.
I have a question though. Should I use carnauba wax first and then apply meguiars nxt wax(hydrophobix polymer wax). Reason I ask is that I heard carnauba wax doesn't last that long in the sun, but gives the best shine. And I'm sure nxt wax would help it last longer.
